Worcester Festival Choral Society was delighted to welcome Nicholas Freestone as its Accompanist in September 2018, when he became Worcester Cathedral's Assistant Director of Music. At Worcester Cathedral he is also principal accompanist of the Cathedral Choir and directs the Girl Choristers.
Previously Nicholas was at St Paul’s Cathedral, where he was the William and Irene Miller Organ Scholar, including a six-month period as Acting Sub-Organist. Prior to that Nicholas spent two years at St Albans Cathedral, following scholarships at Wells Cathedral and Tewkesbury Abbey.
As a solo recitalist he has performed at venues including Westminster Abbey and the St. Albans International Organ Festival. As accompanist he has worked with the National Youth Choir, and as continuo player with the City of London Sinfonia.
Nicholas became an internet sensation in 2016 with his performance of David Bowie classic Life on Mars on the organ of St. Albans Cathedral.
